Summerness

Image
I had a couple ideas of what to blog about when I got home, but unfortunately my days have been eaten up by watching NBA playoff games and season finales (a topic for another day). I did go to the beach with one of my friends from HS and her friend from college, which was really nice because we just lounged on the sand and caught up. I don't even have a car to go on my aimless wandering joy-rides and trips to the library :( So what is there to blog about? Shopping excursions I suppose :) In general it's almost like an extra welcome home gift to shop with my mom at the good ole Del Amo Mall in Torrance, even though they don't have a Nordstroms (which is totally fine with me because I still don't know what to buy when I'm at a Nordstroms...besides makeup lol) Del Amo has just about every other store...including two Macys, yeah that's right two of the same department store...which doesn't make much sense except Robinsons' May was taken over by Macys some ye...

To be young...

A little before 3:30am, writing a not-so-stressful paper about my experiences as a research assistant and I just got a little sad all of a sudden. I'm actually almost at the end of my paper and I found that I had written this... "Together the parent and child would work towards understanding each other’s feelings. I noticed that during the [part of the interview where the parent and child discuss a behavior/attitude about learning that was 'not perfect'], the parent would bring up and clearly establish the expectations that the parents had for the child in a patient manner. Especially if the child showed signs of distress, no matter how small, the parent would comfort the child by emphasizing that the parents didn’t expect the child to be perfect, but to try his/her best and that it was okay to make mistakes." I know it's really simplistic and foolish to compare parents' expectations for their kids when they're 4 or 5 compared to when they're 20+,...

Places to Go This Summer

Image
Since I'm sticking around Providence this summer, I'm thinking up a list of places that I would like to visit/hang out at in Providence and outside it... In no particular order: 1. Roger Williams Park - I stumbled upon this place right before Spring Break and I'd love to see it again when it's more green. yay duckies ^_^ 2. Prospect Park & India Point Park - near by campus but I still haven't been to either 3. A good beach - Last summer when I was in DC, I went to the beach ONCE an that was in South Carolina, but not this summer, I need the beach! I'm still a California girl at heart 4. Newport - To take pictures of the pretty houses :) 5. Boston - As if I haven't been there enough times, there's never enough time! And I know it's kind of nerdy but I want to visit some historical places 6. New York/New Jersey - Because if I'm here for the whole summer I definitely have to go see my relatives. Knowing me I'll get a Filipino food craving...

Love this song

Every so often I come across a song that I start listening to over and over and over again. Gravity - Sara Bareilles; Haven't Met You Yet - Michael Buble; I Just Want You - AJ Rafael...You probably get the idea (and think I'm a total sap, which isn't far from the truth). It's a habit I picked up from my dad, even though I find it so annoying when he does it, like he plays "Hands Down" by Dashboard Confessional over and over again, at least I don't play songs on repeat in the car where everyone else has to deal with it! Mind you, I really like that song too, but there's something about being subject to listen to it or any other song by an outside authority that won't let you touch the stereo when he's driving ;) This one in particular I heard at an acapella concert I went to this weekend, and it's helping me get through my next paper. For everyone needing a little love to get through these next couple of weeks, this one's for you: Make Y...
