Winter Treats

Happy New Year 2011!

The past few months have been nothing but a whirlwind, but definitely a happy one =)
I've received so many great gifts and treats, but those will come a little later...first off, the treats that I've been making in the kitchen!

Homemade Chocolate & Butterscotch Chip Cookies with Walnuts
Made with my buddy Leira for a cookie exchange party she was going to...I'd never heard of such a thing before then! At a cookie exchange party, everyone make x sets of cookies. So for the party Leira was going to, she made 10 sets with 6 cookies in each set = 60 cookies! And a couple extra for samples of course. So at this exchange, you try out other people's cookie samples, and trade the sets you brought...so bring 60 cookies, come home with a new set of 60 cookies!

Garlic-y Parmesan Stuffed Mushrooms
No big tricks with this one, but I spent a good amount of time chopping mushroom stems and mixing the stuff. Once they were in the oven, I let them bake normally for a little while before turning on the broiler--that gave them a great melted Parmesan look :)

Bread Pudding with Pineapple and Raisins
Shhh, don't tell the parentals, but this baby had white sugar, brown sugar, AND heavy whipping cream...yummy for the tummy but not for the waistline.

More to come!
