Barrage of thoughts

It's already been a few weeks of being back in Providence, and so far here's the short list of what's been keeping me occupied: Room-related: - how to organize my clothes since I don't have real closet/drawers - how to arrange the sofa, 2 arm chairs, bookshelf, and small fridge, and 2 end tables, in addition to my bed so that my room is comfy but still with a respectable amount of floor space - when to leave the windows open for good air flow (basically they're always open) - how to CHANGE CLOTHES when one of my windows facing the street doesn't have blinds to cover them (thanks sonia for the poster, I'll be sure to put it up soon...okay so the poster was a total fail and now both of my windows facing the street are just always open, I just have to be slick about changing!) (the 2 windows in my room and the fallen Patti Smith poster) Bike-related: - where to lock my bike when I go to work - how to lock my bike without knocking it into someone else's bike...

TV Finales of the Seasonal Kind

Image
This semester I discovered the wonders of Hulu, IPTV, and YouTube, and thus my television intake increased significantly. Dubbed "IPTV Buddy" by my wonderful suitemate, I became re-addicted to a variety of shows, some of which I'm not so sure how I started watching in the first place...but yeah, in an attempt for some extra closure with these shows, here are my musings on the good, bad, and sometimes ugly season finale episodes. WARNING! this post is filled with spoilers so skip over it if you haven't watched the season finales and were planning to do so ;) The Amazing Race - So this didn't really have a 'season' finale per se, but the final episode was filled with drama and excitement as always (or at least that's how they edited it to looks like a close race the whole way through). The brothers from RI, Dan and Jordan, snuck in from behind to win the $1 million, beating out The Cowboys and The Models (a team which included the infamous the Miss Teen...

A Quick Tribute to the Lakers :)

BACK-TO-BACK CHAMPIONSHIPS!!!! and also because Robin doesn't have facebook anymore and I can't just go post this on her wall... Ron Artest may be slightly nuts, a certified bad boy, and makes a lot of questionable choices (both in the game of basketball and in life)...but I have to say that he's kind of great because pretty much, he is who he is and he's cool with it. And he's so happy ! It's quite endearing =) Congrats to Ron on his first NBA championship!

Vegas with the Parentals

Image
Last weekend my parents and I went on our first vacation together in quite a long time. Our destination? Las Vegas (as usual) but we took advantage of free rooms at the Aria Resort and Casino at the new CityCenter and took advantage of our new lodgings to explore more of the newer attractions of the Las Vegas strip. My parents were simply amused that I was finally old enough to play slots with them, and I had a couple of my own things on my to-do list :) 1. Reunion with Fat Tuesday's Bellini: Ever since Spring Break and being un able to get a refill of the fabulous half-yard frozen Bellini (basically Peach Schnapps and Champagne), this was probably the one "food" item that I was looking most forward to having :) That's a pic of me on my second refill. These 2 semi-cute Asian boys in front of me in line convinced me to try something different so I ended up with a mix of 190 Octane and Hurricane...and it was REALLY strong...don't listen to cute strangers when it com...

From The Ground Up

The Primm Valley Outlets sits on the border of California and Nevada, right along the I-15. About 40 miles from Las Vegas, it acts as a beacon of "Almost There" for those heading into the City of Sin and a "Last Chance for the Big Win" for those heading out. For a number of families heading out of Las Vegas on Memorial Day, they were a detour to avoid traffic, and I would say most were pleasantly surprised to find lots of stores and lots of discounts. In light of my slightly overboard shopping excursions upon returning to California, I attempted to be more selective in what I bought. But that didn't stop me from trying on a bunch of dresses at Charlotte's Russe. I even ventured into romper-land, just to see what the big deal was with them...let me just say that I wasn't a big fan of the ones I tried on -_- give me a dress any day ;) I couldn't resist the 75% off Sale going on at Cole Haan. So here's what I picked up: I know I should try to expand...

Road Trips

Arghhhh just came back from Vegas...a fast 4 hour drive turned into a 7 hour + 4 hour detour stop to avoid traffic (at least it was at Primm, the hotel with an outlet, so shopping and eating filled the time)...yikes holiday traffic! And I was fighting sleep the whole time because a mix of making sure my dad didn't fall asleep behind the wheel and being the most freaked out I have ever been with him driving My stress level (and probably blood pressure) were definitely elevated the entire time...and now, safe and sound back at home, I CAN'T SLEEP...typical. Vegas, all in all, was pretty fun. The parentals were amused that I could finally hang out with them in the casino, and since we stayed in a new place (Aria at CityCenter) we saw a lot of new things. The weather was wonderful and perfect for walking outside and feeling like summer. Definitely a better recap to come in the morning when I'm less BLAH from sitting in traffic...but YAY for being back in California :)
