Moving Out Day/Korea Day 1
A physically exhausting day...started with cleaning my apartment, throwing out a lot of garbage, and moving my extra things to my friend's apartment nearby.
I thought the day was going to turn out badly/bad karma when I brought down my first set of garbage and the garbage lady proceeded to chew me out in Japanese because I put my plastics-type garbage next to the appropriate cage as opposed to inside the cage since it was locked. I played the foreigner but I felt super guilty :(
But only guilty enough that I went looking for other garbage areas without mean ladies.
All of my utilities got turned off one by one and I had to pay all the month of payments I...skipped...or more precisely, didn't bother to pay because I would soon be leaving anyway. Bad karma continued as the water lady quoted me ¥901 but upon calling higher-ups realized I needed to pay for June and July -> ¥5031. I had given her ¥1001 originally, but not having enough smaller bills for it to be exact change, I gave her ¥10030. She gave me back ¥5000, but because I second-guessed myself, and that I didn't know how to express it, I brushed off the remaining ¥1000...still unsure if she actually gave it back to me or not...
After utilities were finished, the office lady from my school came by to "check the apartment" which turned into "removing more trash and asking Elaine weird questions" but...she did help me move more things which was helpful.
Then I had to bid farewell to the place that had been my dwelling lair for almost a year. My first own place, now that I think about it. Definitely not my last though.
Then had to backtrack to Seishin-Chuo to fill out "Moving out forms" and th poor clerks had to deal with my noob-ish understanding of Japanese.
Zipped down almost the entire subway line to Sannomiya, picked up some money and exchanged it to Won...another weird money situation, but this one was my own doing. Just exchange money at an official type place kids, at a bank or airport...sighs...
Bought myself a couple waffle treats and hair accessory treats, jumped on the airport express train, with way too much time to spare. But, it seemed my karma was turning slightly in the positive direction, since I got through immigration no problem, and got to keep my gaijin card.
The flight was so freakin beautiful. But couldn't quell my hunger so I ended up buying airplane overpriced food. But after living in Japan, it doesn't seem that bad anymore...
And finally, KOREA!! Met up with my beautiful Robin after more than a year apart, and then found Sonia!
Currently I'm lounging in my hostel for the week, realized a little too late that my travel adaptor is not Korea-friendly, and will need to pick one of those up tmrw. That, and a whole lot of adventures to be had!
