A Week in Pictures
Monday: In addition to getting a spontaneous haircut, I also had my Pecha Kucha talk - 20 slides, 20 seconds each = 6min40secs of very fast explanation. My topic was Baxter Magolda's theory of self-authorship.
Tuesday: Work and play. I took the "morning" off by coming into work an hour or so later than usual. It totally made a difference though, knowing that I was going to stay up later that night to write my paper, simply being able to move through the morning without rushing seemed like a good idea.
Wednesday: Tuesday and Wednesday sort of blended together since I only slept for about an hour and a half. In the morning I turned in one of the most atrocious papers I've every submitted, but the afternoon was a fun treat because I had my first student organization advising meeting. After the meeting, I met up with my buddy Matt, who was visiting from Japan. As usual, spontaneous me set out to explore the touristy favorites, as well as find a new spot.
Thursday: Full on work day ended with a nice dinner treat at Spaghetini in Seal Beach. I absolutely adore butternut squash ravioli ^_^
Friday: I had to go into work for a meeting and stuck around for a little while, trying to catch up with all of the new organization requests. After a chill afternoon at home, I met up with Matt and Sachiko at the airport for a little farewell bonding time. It was here that I realized...I haven't been anywhere outside the LA/OC area since going to Santa Barbara over Labor Day Weekend. How to remedy?
Saturday: A promising sunny day in Carson translated to a hazy, overcast, windy day at Manhattan Beach. After breakfast with the girls at Uncle Bill's, we relaxed on the beach with our reading's for Jane's class and the portable ipod speakers/radio playing some Top 40.
In the evening, Hollywood Halloween debauchery was underway!
Sunday: Sunday morning had me driving across town to make brunch! Everything after that is clouded in the haze of food coma, and now I'm just reflecting upon a very full and crowded week. Will the end of October bring the same sense of excitement?
