Springtime Happy

Hi everyone :)

Just a quick post today. It's Week 1 of the final quarter of my master's program, and I'm definitely starting to see the supercrazybusy-train pick up speed. Signed up for lots of classes, stuff at work is definitely getting busier with more responsibility, and on top of that... JOB SEARCHING.

One of my cohort buddies alerted me to UCLA's Happiness Challenge, and UCLA is joining Harvard, Yale, Wellesley, and MIT for an 8-week challenge to practice 8 different habits that research has shown to make people happier:

Here's a link to each week's "habit":
  1. Socializing (Don't I do too much of this already?)
  2. Doing good deeds
  3. Bruin Health Week
  4. Sleeping Well (But what if I don't like sleep???)
  5. Eating Healthily (Must....drink....more...water!)
  6. Journaling Everyday (Okay, I think I can definitely try this)
  7. Exercise (Does dancing count?)
  8. Be Positive
So the challenge is on Instagram with the hashtag #HealthyUCLA and there is a "Check in" section on the website that you need to submit some responses to each week:
  1. Socialize: How did your first week go? Are any of your friends participating, too?
  2. Do Good Deeds: Pick 3 of your favorite good deeds and tell us about them (what were they, whom were they for?).
  3. Bruin Health Week: Which events and activities did you attend? Share something new you learned.
  4. Sleep: Total and report the number of hours of sleep you got this week. How do you feel about this number?
  5. Eating Healthily: Which food health resource did you use? What did you change about your eating habits this week? (Did you notice how it affected you?)
  6. Journal Every Day: When and where did you journal? How did you feel after writing?
  7. Exercise: For option 1: What new exercises did you try, and where? For option 2: About how much longer did it take you to get places by foot?
  8. Speak Positively: List 3 things you wanted to complain about this week that you refrained from and list 3 positive things that you told to your friends.
I'll be sure to share some of the Happiness Challenge here and report on how balancing everything this quarter goes :)

I know a lot of people have issues with the HIMYM finale, but I did thoroughly enjoy this scene ^.^
