Grecian Influences

Image
A little late, but here's some pics from Halloween weekend! An assortment of cosmetics, our kitchen table was covered in eyeshadows, foundation, brushes, oh yeah and a knife. My attempt at a Greek goddess--I took a decorative sheer gold curtain, and my fabulous roomie Kristine wrapped it for me. Holding the curtain on its side like a towel, we wrapped it by having me stand in front of it, crossing over the two corners, and tying it behind my neck like it was a halter top. To give it shape, she gave me a stretchy black belt with gold fasteners. The cuff, earrings, and gold headband Robin lent me. My makeup is normal face makeup + more bronzer, gold tinted lipstick and gold eyeshadow. The fun adventure was figuring out those fake eyelashes. Self-adhesives aren't so reliable (aka, the adhesive is so shoddy that it wouldn't even stick over eyeshadowed eyes), so I asked Star if she could assist me, and fortunately she had the adhesive in the tube. I accidentally went a little ...

New Favorite Song

I'm so in love with this, I can't deal: Lyrics to I Don’t Care by Melissa Polinar x Jesse Barrera we’ve been at this for a long time keeping me alive – a lifeline when I’m too high you keep me grounded when I’m stuck on the ground, you take my mind somewhere far from here we can’t quit It doesn’t matter I promise everything’s gonna get better they’re not part of this Chorus: I don’t care what they’re talking about we’ve got a flame i’m not afraid of what they say I don’t care what they say because… I’m absolutely sure i won’t need anything more I left loneliness outside of your door One step closer to the boundary between what’s certain and the maybe’s we need to cross that line where no one’s got nothing on us they don’t understand – where we’ve been we can’t quit It doesn’t matter I promise everything’s gonna get better they’re not part of this bridge: I’m not afraid, i’m not afraid of what they say I know that we’ll be ok Read more: http://www.channelapa.com/2010/08/i-dont-c...

Yikes...old sad romantic movies

Image
It's been a long time since I've needed a movie to fall asleep to, but today I didn't do nearly as much running around as I should have, I literally didn't make it any further west than Thayer St. and any further north than the Omac (which I guess is still pretty far). But yeah, I don't know why I picked Roman Holiday, the second the music started playing I remembered how it ends. And I have a feeling if I don't end up falling asleep I may end up feeling terribly sad... Ah...Audrey is quite beautiful though... Why didn't I decide to watch Sabrina instead??? At least that one ends more happily...

Wake Me Up When September Ends?

Image
Although I wasn't literally asleep through the whole month of September, it is kind of a marvel to me that it's been just about a month since we've come back to school. Uh Elaine, why does the beginning of your blog posts always sound the same after a long hiatus?...yeah okay, so what? Anyway...a lot's happened over the past couple of weeks. Going to a different country (Cananada), my mom and Jen visiting, a trip to Boston, learning to cook lumpia, learning to cook a lot of random things, the PAC retreat, FINALLY submitting my capstone project proposal, and jumping on the All-Access gym pass bandwagon. I'm super excited for my ice skating classes, on Wednesday I actually started to skate backwards and do simple crossovers! And pilates is just awesome because I can feel my dancing body getting stronger...if next semester isn't too busy, I'm definitely going to try to do the pass again with ice skating and ballet :) Despite the "doing something good for ...

New York Adventure

So since I haven’t had a meaty blog post in a while, I decided I’m going to blog about my one-day adventure in the big city that is New York. Be prepared, I’m typing throughout the day, so even I don’t know what to expect! 5:15am My alarm went off much too early, but I realized with a jolt that I had to get dressed, make some food, and make sure everything I needed was packed. I was planning to meet a trolley at my good old Preston & Power RIPTA stop, but upon looking outside I suddenly became very paranoid that not only RIPTA but the whole world had crawled into a cave to get shelter from the hurricane, and that there would be no way for me to know. So resourceful as I can be at times, I called the RIPTA customer service line, which I obtained by texting Google at 46645. If you haven’t tried it yet, it’s really great for those of us who still don’t have internet on their phones. Text a name of a restaurant, store, hotel, or even just something like “movie theatre” and the zip cod...
