Sighs, well with less than an hour left until May 10 is over in my time zone, I'm stuck looking at this screen on my computer...seriously? So this post will be Blogger-app written, which to tell you the truth it wouldn't be that noticeable if I just left it unsaid, but I'm pretty sure all the pictures I upload for this post will end up at the bottom or something just slightly off like that. Apologies in advance! And as if on cue, the System Restore told me I can restart my computer now! "Tell us about your favorite social media channel and why."  Without a doubt, I am on  Facebook  way too often for my own good. It truly is the way to keep up with people I've met over the years near and far away. Facebook really gets me down sometimes though, a combination of feeling good that I kind of know what people are up to, and feeling sad that I wasn't able to keep in better touch with said people. I generally like to use Facebook for photos, photo sharing, and writing on people's walls. I don't really like updating my status unless it's something important.  Instagram  is just pure fun to me though. Take about low stress way to socialize...look at however many pictures you want on your feed, press a like button, and be done with it. I think I really like how on Instagram the "Follower Feed" type list of other people's likes is totally separate from my personal feed of pictures. I actually didn't even know the follower fee...

I wrote this post a lot later in the day than usual, but it's still May 8 on my side of the world!  My first paid job was at Mervyn's the summer after I graduated from high school. It took a month after being hired to finish orientation, and then I worked for another month at all weird hours (6am-1pm on day, 4pm-10pm the next). Then very unceremoniously, I quit because I was moving across the country for college. It was really satisfying to get a pay check, and the work wasn't terribly stressful, but I definitely learned a lot.  One of the Saturdays I worked the register, I learned all about the craziness of sales, the importance of working quickly, and the embarrassment associated with forgetting to remove a security device. I worked hard but I didn't care so much about the company and put the customers first. For example, there was a $15 off $75 purchase newspaper coupon, but I would give the customer that discount even if they didn't know about that co...

My dog is a funny funny creature. Part white shitzu and part black poodle, she herself is a white fluffy shih-poo but demonstrates a dual personality of sillyness and mopeyness. My parents got Chelsea from my mom's coworker whose dog just had her first litter of puppies. The coworker was just giving away the puppies to anyone that wanted them, and I had just moved to Japan and my mom found it to be a good opportunity. (Yes, my parents replaced me with a dog.) Since I didn't meet Chelsea for almost half a year, family friends would ask if Chelsea was jealous that another kid moved back home. Honestly, I told them, I think Chelsea just sees me as another parent to spoil her. And still I highly doubt Chelsea has anything to be jealous about.  Even though she's only been around a little less than 2 years, I'm super glad to have a happy silly puppy in our household. She's a great pillow, it's fun to rub her tummy, and she always likes to play catch/keep away...

Unfortunately it isn't a long weekend here in the U.S.! So today is just another busy Monday back at a school. This Friday the first graders are holding their annual culture fair, and it just feels like there is so much left to do! To get the week started off on a fancy fun foot, I put together a new outfit to use a new skirt (only $2.50!) I bought a few weeks back from a small shop going out of business at my local mall. I was pretty sad to see it emptying out because I had bought plenty of unique pieces there that were great for layering. Also, this week is Happy Hour at Starbucks between 3-5pm! Half off Frapppucinos :) For right now, I'm just excited and anxious about the culture fair, but I know everything will turn out well. Hope you all had a happy Monday!

Day 5:  "What do you do to stay fit or be a healthy individual?" I'm the "big" one ;) Ahhh...I didn't like the sound of this one when I saw it on the calendar. Well, I didn't like the idea of writing on this topic, but actually reading   posts from other bloggers has been really nice, and in a way has helped me feel better about just getting on the computer and writing this post. Ever since I was a kid, I've always felt self-conscious about being bigger than the kids around me. When I was younger, it was mostly due to the fact that I was many years older than the a lot of the kids my family hung out with, but I didn't connect that until much later. During a Christmas party, one of the younger kids described me as "She's big" and I remember feeling like I wanted to die in my seat. What I didn't realize is that "big" probably just meant "tall", and probably any 9-yr-old girl would seem big to a 5-yr-old b...

I'll admit that I'm not a super blog surfer. Basically I started using Google Reader to be able to read blogs and subscribe to RSS feeds and see them all in one place categorized to my liking. Every once in a while I check out the Recommended section and add some things I find interesting. Just recently I made the switch over to Feedly , and even though I am rather slow-adjusting when it comes to these kinds of things, Feedly made it so simple to move everything from Google Reader that I haven't missed it at all.
