Travel Musings and LDRs

Sighs, well with less than an hour left until May 10 is over in my time zone, I'm stuck looking at this screen on my computer...seriously?

So this post will be Blogger-app written, which to tell you the truth it wouldn't be that noticeable if I just left it unsaid, but I'm pretty sure all the pictures I upload for this post will end up at the bottom or something just slightly off like that. Apologies in advance!

And as if on cue, the System Restore told me I can restart my computer now! Back to computer typing :) So here are my answers to the question, "If you could go anywhere in the world right now, where would you go?"

1) If I could go anywhere in the world right now, I say that I would go...

(I always get this movie and Where the Heart Is confused with one another.)
...anywhere but here.

I am in such a traveling rut this past year. That might be an over exaggeration though, because probably wherever I ended up after coming back from a year in Japan would have seemed like a traveling rut. I came back to the U.S. wanting to go to so many places "close to home"...Harry Potter World, visit friends in New York, San Francisco, Brown, and even just see more places in LA...as a way to kind of bring back my wandering spirit back from a year abroad. But a combinations of working on a school schedule, having trouble balancing family and my own life, and just grown up reality in general has made all my travel musings get pushed to the side. Furthermore, it just seems like it's more difficult for a young female to travel around by herself. I still get wary of the idea of just doing solo day trips here in California, which is so weird because in Japan traveling solo or joining a group of foreigners traveling together was totally normal...any thoughts on why that is? Or maybe any tips on how to feel good about solo travel here in the U.S.?

2) That all being said, if I could go anywhere in the world right now, it would be...

...anywhere where I could be with loved ones that I haven't seen in a long time. I know the question wasn't implying that the travel had to be alone, but if it was solo travel ideally the destination would be to visit people I really miss. Just take a break out of regular life and have the chance to really catch up an be in the lives of those important people. It would have to be somewhere fancy, seriously just chilling on the couch of a friend's living room seems like the perfect thing to do if I could go anywhere right now.

3) On that note, never never google image "long distance relationship" expecting to find harmless friends stuff. (I know, anyone reading is face-palming that I even thought that was going to happen.) Instead be ready to be pelted with sentimental bombshells that make any LDR-er (especially an already emotional one like myself) miss that special someone even more.

(Man that animated one of the girl and boy saying "Hug!" just kills me with how true it is...)

Because honestly, if I could travel anywhere in the world right now...

...of course I would travel to be with my guy.

I don't really like to go on about "life in a long distance relationship" because even though I know that's what it's easily defined as, I like to think that we have our own special thing. Every relationship does :). It also does bog me down when I get too meta-academic-philosophical-reflective-whatever trying to make this stuff logical written down, because honestly, it probably isn't. But I do know that the true, maybe not logical, somewhat selfish, probably silly use of the imaginative potential, answer to the question, "If you could go anywhere in the world right now, where would you go?" is anywhere I could be with him. :)

If your loved ones are close, hold on tight. If they're far away, I sure hope you'll be together again soon. When it all comes down to it, being able to be close to loved ones is probably one of the best reasons to travel anyway. :)

Hope you all have a fabulous weekend, special shout out to all the moms celebrating their special day on Sunday!
