My 5 Favorite Blogs
I'll admit that I'm not a super blog surfer. Basically I started using Google Reader to be able to read blogs and subscribe to RSS feeds and see them all in one place categorized to my liking. Every once in a while I check out the Recommended section and add some things I find interesting. Just recently I made the switch over to Feedly, and even though I am rather slow-adjusting when it comes to these kinds of things, Feedly made it so simple to move everything from Google Reader that I haven't missed it at all.
Here are my top 5!
1) Vampy Varnish
First showed up on my radar because I was interested in nail polish swatches, and Kelly also posts reviews about so many different kinds of products.
2) #Kikinitinkorea
My best friend had this up as her gchat status sometime last year and I thoughtlessly added it to my Google Reader. A few days later I was scrolling through and burst out in laughter over some of the gifs they had posted. I don't know the whole back story but essentially the blogger is teaching English in Korea, and along the same lines of #whatshouldwecallme, they are quick punchy one-liners with accompanying gifs that I totally resonated with as an English teacher in Japan.
3) The Kitchn
I love love love baking and am trying to get better at cooking, and these tips and helpful hints are so awesome. One of the components of the blog is a Q and A type of deal, the helpful hints comes from a question asked by a reader ("Is my unopened bottle of olive oil still okay to use?"). In addition, there are frequently how-tos, seasonal and holiday recipes, and reviews for cookbooks and products.
4) Lakers' ESPN Blog and Lakers.com Blog
I can't help it, I just love reading stories about athletes and how sports journalist create a story from the world of sports.
5) The Compulsive Reader
Ever since I studied in college the potential effectiveness that Young Adult (YA) novels can have upon a teenager's development both inside and outside of school, I've loved reading people blog about the YA literature they love in their lives. The Compulsive Reader really knows her stuff and is totally well versed in the world of YA literature.
For that class we actually had to post blog entries ourselves about the YA books we had read, so if you're interested feel free to check out my posts here. It hasn't been updated in forever, but writing book reviews has always been something I wish I would do more.
Hope you're all having a great weekend!
