5 Lines about Me

Pangasinan, Philippines during a family vacation (July 2008).

Happy May everyone! And a special welcome to any #BEDM bloggers :)
This post is just a little 5-line introduction about me:

E - Elementary school aide, loving life w/the little ones while on my way to a career in Higher Ed.
L - Los Angeles native, but going to college in R.I. and living in Japan has left me LA-illiterate
A - Asian American, trying every day to be a strong and proud Filipina-American
I - Insightful, Intellectual, Introverted
Ne - New stages in my life are rapidly approaching, but even if it's scary, I'm unbelievably excited!

Sunrise at the top of Mt. Fuji after making the overnight 8-hr climb. (August 2012)

It's been almost 2 years since graduation, but I'm still really proud of it :)
Take care! Happy BEDM :)

Hi Elaine! Love your photos - they are stunning! Walking to the summit of Mt Fuji must have been incredible - did you ever think you might not make it?! Good luck with BEDM!

It was really tough not from any particular physical conditions, but mostly because I thought 8 hours would be plenty, but it turned out if we went any slower we might not have made it to the top in time. Around 1am or so, I started freaking out that I was slowing down my group too much, literally hyperventilated off to the side and was just all around really stressed out. The crazy thing is, because there are so many people climbing each night, literally dozens of Japanese climbers were really supportive saying, "Gambatte!" (sort of like "Fight on!") and after taking a little longer break to catch my breath, I was ready to keep going :). Totally worth it, but I don't know if I'd want to do it again anytime soon ;).
