Taking Time to Recharge
What is your ideal way to pamper yourself and relax?
Since I've pretty much avoided the M-F 9-5 plus overtime life (so far), I like to think that I'm not terribly ground up and stressed out by week's end. I know way more people with way more demanding work places than mine, so I'm not complaining.
I do like to treat myself after particularly busy times, like a few weeks ago when I was covering for the main teacher on a Friday. By then end of the day, I just thought...I need a treat. Food, drinks, fun, a nap...anything really. My most favorite way to treat myself after a busy week is actually to go out with my girl friends and just hang--basically do something completely unrelated to small children. Whether I feel successful or not so successful, the last thing I want to do is go home to a regular evening at home.
Last week, however, was a super crazy whirlwind of preparations for the 1st grade Culture Fair, and unfortunately by the time Friday rolled around, the social calendar seemed woefully unfilled. So here's how I unwind, pamper myself, take time to recharge before it all starts up again on Monday:

1) NBA Playoff Games - It doesn't even matter what team or what time, it's my absolute favorite spring entertainment.
But it's so sad when teams get eliminated! The beginning of the playoffs is so awesome and there are more games that one can handle, but very quickly the teams start dropping like flies and there are less and less games to watch :/
2. Paint my nails crazy colors :) - I don't do designs nor do I go through all the crazy nail prep stages, I'm simply an acetone off the old color and paint on a new color kind of gal. |
3. Edit photos on the computer - (and upload them)
4. Make myself an extra hearty meal or an extra sweet treat - sometimes I worry that my eating habits are too tied to my emotional well-being...
5. Try on clothes for fun - I guess dress up never goes out the window completely. Even if I don't have a fancy occasion in the near future, I go through some of my old and new dresses and brainstorm different situations I could use the dress again. Girls night out anyone? ;)
