Spring is Here! Spring Fever

When I think of Springtime, the first thing that comes to my mind is how much I love flowers and flowering trees. Back in Japan, the 2 weeks that the cherry blossoms were in bloom would be filled with hanami picnics under the trees with snacks and plum wine...definitely a practice I would bring back here (except my area in LA is rather flowering tree-deficient).

The funny thing about spring in L.A. is that the weather in southern California is year-round what many typically think of as spring weather. While there is a shift in temperature as it gets closer to summer, the idea of spring's arrival is more prevalent in the changes in wardrobe. There is nothing I love more than getting to wear my spring dresses and skirts.

Finally, the turn from winter to spring brings one of my favorite seasons of all time: the NBA playoffs! Besides the games, athletes' story lines, and all around great competition, Inside the NBA on TNT is one of my favorite TV shows already, and during the playoffs it's "40 games in 40 nights"!! If life had gone another way, I would have loved to be a sports journalist. Even though my Lakers are already out of the action, I've still got the Clippers (who have many ex-Laker players on their team), the Warriors, and OKC (because of Derek Fisher) to cheer for, and in general the almost-daily excitement of the games going on each night is just too much fun.

This spring, I'll be playing inside out (now I'm in a basketball mood) with how I'll be enjoying spring. Starting with wearing as many spring dresses as possible to taking pictures during outdoor excursions, and chilling out to the NBA playoffs (as well as all the spring season finales of all the prime time shows), I'm pretty sure this spring is shaping up to be as blossoming as ever. :)

Will any of you be enjoying your springs in a similar manner? Anyone out there want to join in the NBA playoff watch? Or perhaps have any advice on the new great spring dresses? (I'm still workin' empire-waist, A-line, a few inches above the knee spring dress silhouette, but I'd definitely appreciate any pointers on how to rock other silhouettes and waistlines :)

Love your pictures of flowering trees. So gorgeous. We have some where I live (Toronto) but nothing like in Japan.

I just got new spring dress that I wore today but it's kind of different and I have no idea how to describe it!
